Quilt

I was asked to create a craft item for Reegan's 3rd grade classroom's Silent Auction contribution... each block was drawn by one of her classmates, as well as Mrs. Coleman (Reegan's teacher). The dedication block says "What Makes Me Happy Is......." It was fun to put together but I definitely could not have done it without Marie's' help. THANK YOU!!!! It was a wonderful coincidence that Marie flew in for a few days to see the family, because I put her talents to work. The classroom picture will be used as well...... each kiddo signed their name on the mat which frames the 8x10 portrait. Thought it would be neat for whomever ends up winning the quilt to be able to see the class that made it.

New kitchen and dining room light

We got our last two major lights installed this afternoon. Personally I think the dining room light is a bit massive, but Kevin likes it.

And the Pool goes on and on

We have been told that the pool should be done by the end of the week... we'll believe it once the water starts to fill it up! We decided to redo the cool deck but once they ground the old paint off the surface (yes, the previous owner thought it would look better with good old paint on it.... pink/peach no less) we found that there were several cracks that just couldn't be filled so we had a chunk removed. They then re poured some of the concrete back leaving us with some eventual planting space. The cool deck has now been completed and all we are waiting for is the crew to come out and pump the rain water out (yes we do get rain down here and man is it a sight to see), clean out all of the debris and then resurface. Can;t wait to have it all done! The landscaper will be here on Monday to deliver 10 tons of dirt, 2 tons of gravel and plant the palms. Will post more once it's done.

Upgrades....

I have to start by saying it's really nice to have the computer back up after 2 weeks. I was beginning to think that I had gone back in time to days where there was little technology. We still have no home phone however.... one of the painters must have stepped on our phone box and we have yet to find the time to get it replaced! So if you feel inclined, please call us on one of our cell phones!!!

Kevin has spent hours changing out our door hardware, electrical switches and plates and putting up new lighting. Both of us got to spend time on the good old scaffolding in order to change out the can lighting, air grates, smoke detectors and of course our new entry light. We still have bath lights to put up as well as all of the bar bars, toilet paper holders, etc. But we are getting there.

And the Painting Begins!

Okay. So we left for one night with the understanding that we would come back to a home that was under "construction" but still liveable......This is what we walked into! Only one room (the master) was liveable. Needless to say we all bunked together for several nights until we could get some of the plastic off of things. The only areas that we could use during the 2 weeks process were the kitchen (sort of) and our bedroom.

Green

I took some pictures of the hills behind the girls school (they are the same ones that we see from the front of our house) on my way to get them the other day...... just because they are so incredibly green. We have had quite a bit of rain- everyone tells me that they will be an ugly shade of brown once it starts heating up. Their beauty catches me off guard every morning I make the drive.

SLOOOOw going....

....but at least the water feature is done (except for painting the stucco planter walls etc.). Now if we could get the cool deck demo'd we'll be able to get the interior of the pool finished! Hopefully we'll see some more progress next week. Threw in a couple random pics as well.
