Greer turns 6- Well almost

It seems impossible to me that Greer will be six in 8 days. Seems like yesterday that we brought this tiny little bundle home a day or two before Easter, and here we are now, 4 homes, 1 more kid and a complelty diffeerent state later. Where has the time gone?..... well from that last sentence I shouldn't really pose that question now should I.
We had a mini celebration while mom, dad and Gammy were here visiting. While we (Dad, Kevin, Reegan, Gammy and myself) were at a Spring training game, Gigi made special birthday cupcakes with Greer and Brynn. To top it off Greer chose to have lasagna which is one of her favs for dinner.
This year we will be partying "Karate" style with several of Greer's new friends from school down at one of the local studios. I was highest bidder on the complete party (Pizza, games/prizes, karate instruction for 18 guest) at Anasazi's Silent Auction. All we have to do is bring the cake. Now that sounds more like a party for myself!!! No cleaning house prior to or after.... no food preparation.... and no entertaining a bunch of Kindergarten kids! YEAH ME!! Just kidding. It should be fun and will post pictures after the party which is on the 29th.

Softball

We are half way through softball season so figured I had better post some pictures of the girls. Reegan hit her first home run the other day.... she didn't know what happened until she stopped at first and the entire crowd went nuts yelling at her to RUN.... all the way home. She was very proud of herself to say the least and of course you should have seen the grin on her dad's face!!
Greer is enjoying her first time out on the field as well. Kevin was asked to co-share the assistant coach position which made him very happy. He has always wanted to do so, but couldn't before due to his travel. His current job enables him to be at almost every practice and game. He is hoping to help out on Reegan's team too next year if the opportunity arises.

Making a house a HOME

So long blue walls.... hello a nice warm brown! The color goes so much better with the granite but now the cabinets seem a bit outdated. Oh well, maybe gutting the kitchen and baths will be the next BIG undertaking.... BUT definitely not any time soon! We added wainscoting in the dining room and took the color up a notch throughout. We really like how it turned out. We still have the Ansel to hang and the light needs to be raised but you get the idea. Can't say I love the fireplace.... bit dark .... but looks pretty good at night. Someday we'd like to tear it out and use the same stone that is on the water feature outside.

Remember the "Red" walls? They have now been replaced with a much warmer earth tone. When I bought our new bedding it was kind of ironic that the coverlet matched the old walls.... We threw in some chocolate brown to finish off the look. Need a duvet cover still but haven't been lucky enough to find one that I like yet. It's a work in progress I guess but sooo much more like us now.

Reegan has a new bed to add to her make-over. She chose a really pretty sea foam green/blue that matches her bedspread and bedskirt perfectly. Now if she could just keep her room clean we'd be in great shape!!!

Brynn of course had to have PINK in her room and seeing that she had to live with that horrible mustard yellow (the poor kid actually cried the first day she walked into her new room back in November) we figured she deserved it.


Greer chose a pretty shade of ice blue that is in her comforter for her accent wall. The next step is to get her some decent lighting. Hers is the only room without either a light kit on her fan or can lighting! We also plan on putting the bunk bed back in and getting Brynn a trundle. That way we will have more room for guests.

Now all we need is the sun....

to warm this thing up! After 2 1/2 months, a ton of frustrating moments, and 36 hours to refill we finally have our pool again! Even though it is only about 70 degrees (up from 60 when it was filled) the girls and I have already been in it! We just couldn't wait.
